A Love Letter to my Peloton Bike

Dear Peloton Bike+,

First off, let me offer my sincerest apologies. I don’t know why it took me so long to come to you.
There is truly no other like you. I didn’t know what my fitness routine was missing until you came into my life.

Yours,
Sarah

In all seriousness,

What can I say other than WOW.
I started off my peloton journey and love when a lot of people did: when everything started shutting down in the pandemic. Don’t get me wrong - I was curious about and a fan of peloton from the get go, but why bother spending the money on a bike when I could go to soul cycle or classes at the gym whenever I felt like it?
Once the pandemic hit, and I was cooped up indoors, itching for some hard cardio that wasn’t running, I decided to invest in a stationery bike. John wasn’t quite convinced of the peloton hype, and we were both not thrilled with the price. So, we got a Schwinn IC4 instead. I was happy because it was something, it had clip in shoes, and had a rest up top where I could place my phone and take peloton’s cycling classes through their app!
Now, there is nothing wrong with the Schwinn bike, and nothing wrong with anyone who goes by this method to do their peloton classes! But after doing this for nearly a year, I decided it was absolutely worth it to sell our old bike and really invest in the real thing. I already knew I wasn’t going to get bored with it, as I’d been taking classes steadily on my other bike.

Y’all.
There is a reason peloton is hyped.
There is a reason everyone who has one loves it.
Having finally gotten my bike, I can confidently say that I absolutely made the right decision.
There is nothing like this bike.
The difference between my top-of-the-lower-tier bike and the peloton are palpable.
Yes, my old bike had clips - but they were a different variety than the ones on the peloton (the same used on soul cycle bikes if you’re familiar with those classes!), and would often leave my outer calves very tight and sore. The old bike would also strain my knees if I rode more than a couple days in a row. The peloton’s ride is smoother, more comfortable, and will make you sweat while keeping your joints comfortable.
But honestly, one of my favorite part of having an actual peloton (besides the gorgeous touch screen, the perfect weight and water bottle holders, the viewability of the leaderboard, and the ability to stack classes) is the METRICS! I love love LOVE how you can see exactly your cadence, and exactly your resistance, and output, and heart rate. I love having all of this information!
And if anyone who’s ever ridden a bike that wasn’t peloton while taking one of their classes - let me tell you it is so lovely not to have to try and make up conversions of whatever your bike’s resistance is to ‘match’ what your instructor is telling you.
It is so nice to just ride.
I am so happy that I finally have this bike, and to anyone who is looking to get a stationary bike and is wondering if the peloton proper is ‘worth it’ I’m here to tell you: it absolutely is. I’m just sorry I didn’t get mine sooner!

I am so happy to properly be a part of the Peloton family.

xoxo, Sarah
