Introducing: The Salted Denim

What. A. Year. It’s been a whirlwind for all of us, but so much has happened for me personally. I changed my body & my relationship with movement, I married the love of my life, changed my last name, and I’ve grown so much as a person. I’ve transformed from the person I was when I started this blog - and it only seemed appropriate that this space should evolve to. So without any further ado, I humbly invite you to: The Salted Denim.

Why ‘The Salted Denim’?

I’d be lying if I said that choosing a new name for my blog was easy. I spent countless hours creating word clouds and analyzing at my profile to try to spark words that encapsulated what I put out into the world. After brainstorming a bunch of, let’s face it, awful ideas, I took a break to start cleaning up all of the miscellaneous things around our place from our wedding and honeymoon. It was then I opened up one of my favorite purchases: an art print of the birds of paradise flower. I knew this had to be my logo - I mean, I was already planning on having it be my next tattoo! And while looking at this art after John hung it up, one key word came to me: salt.

It was incomplete (who names a blog ‘salt’?), but it had to be a key word - it just fit so well! I spent a good portion of my childhood on the outer banks of North Carolina. I will use any excuse to go to the beach, and I still feel most at home by the ocean. I love exercising and sweating, and goodness knows I’ve done my fair share of crying. Salt is such an big and often overlooked part of our lives. There’s even that famous if overly cross stitched quote from Isak Dinesen (pseudonym for author Karen Blixen): “The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea.”

The next half of the name took less time, but was also less inspired. Honestly, I jotted down all of my favorite things to wear, and denim just felt right. (I will say, some of the rejects are amusing: ‘the salty sports bra’; ‘salted socks’, and ‘salt dress’ are some of the funnier ones)

And there you have it: the rebrand of Sarah Sweats into The Salted Denim was made. I’m so honored to have all of you here on this journey with me; and hope you love this new space as much as I do!

xx, Sarah
