28 & Feelin’ Great!
In honor of today being my 28th birthday, I thought I’d take this opportunity to share 28 things I’m loving right now, and 28 things I’ve learned in my time on this planet.
28 Things I’m Loving
Birdies - the comfiest inside/outside shoe ever
Catbird - my favorite local jeweler.
Eberjay - the softest pjs.
Olive & Piper - the best earrings for sensitive ears. I bought all my bridespeople’s earrings here!
Sam Edelman - the most comfortable and fashionable heels. You can walk all day in these 3+ inch heels and feel great! My favorite is the Yaro. I have them in black & gold.
Insta Max Camera - I’m old enough to have had an older polaroid; but I LOVE these!
Harper Wilde - the ONLY bra I’ll ever wear (that’s not a sports bra)
Olive & June - the BEST at home mani/pedi system there is.
Golden Coil Planners - I bought this for myself for 2021 and I am OBSESSED.
Half Baked Harvest - she makes the absolute best recipes. From meals, to cakes to cocktails!
Bombas Socks - absolutely PERFECT for running (especially if you’re prone to plantar fasciitis.)
Peloton - I don’t even have my bike yet, but I’ve been using a schwinn with classes and taking the other non-cycling classes and I. Am. OBSESSED.
Schott Zweisel Wine Glasses - I love these. They’re so chic looking and you can’t help but feel like a goddess while drinking out of them!
Noom - it’s been an integral part of healing my relationship with food.
French 75 - my all time favorite cocktail
Bala Power Ring & Bangles - my favorite workout accessories
Great British Baking Show
Humble & Troian Bellisario’s Star Anise Deodorant - I have very sensitive skin (tldr: if I use any other type of deodorant, I break out in hives), and this is excellent. It smells excellent, and actually works.
Dossier Fragrance - designer fragrances for non designer prices? Yes, please.
Dior’s Velvet Finish Lipstick - I have 999 in the new Velvet and I adore it.
Grounds & Hounds Espresso - good coffee that supports dogs in need? Sign me up!
Minted - it’s where we got our invites and Christmas Cards. They’re excellent, and I’m never going anywhere else
Blue Light Glasses - we all have lots of screen time. Protect your eyes!
Lululemon Yoga Mat - honestly, everyone deserves a quality yoga mat, especially with home workouts!
Charleston Candles - my favorite small business candles. They’re all absolutely exquisite.
Aerie’s Offline Collection - honestly, Aerie is my favorite activewear brand, and their offline collection is straight fire.
28 Things I’ve Learned
Be Kind, everyone is going through something.
Roll with the Punches (didn’t everyone learn this in 2020?)
Stand up for what you believe in. Even if its uncomfortable.
Life’s too short to drink bad coffee. Or bad alcohol.
It’s okay to put yourself first.
When someone is talking to you: listen fully.
Go. For. It.
Ask for help if you need it.
Taking a break (or a day off) doesn’t make you a failure
The difference between self care and self sabotage can be slim. Learn what is a healthy way to care for yourself (it’s different for everyone!)
Love what you love without embarrassment. I used to say Pretty Little Liars was my guilty pleasure show. But you know what? I feel no guilt in loving it!
It’s okay to cancel plans if you’re not up to it! Your friend will understand, and most likely work with you to reschedule!
Get clothes that fit. Who cares if that means sizing up or down. Ill fitting clothes are uncomfortable, and a major confidence belittler.
You are allowed to order the froo-froo sounding cocktail if you want to, despite your gender.
If you want to say no, say no.
Going to bed early is awesome. Yeah, FOMO can be rough, but so is waking up the next morning exhausted.
If you make it right, salads for lunch are awesome.
It is more than okay to not like something - even if it’s something everyone else loves.
If you have non-negotiables; don’t be afraid to put your foot down when life and people try to get in the way of them. They’re important to you and are a part of your core values for a reason. You don’t have to (& shouldn’t) lower yourself to lift others.
Be honest.
Never be ashamed of your goals.
Try your best to live in the moment.
If someone is important to you, let them know. And never stop letting them know.
Sitting with your thoughts can be uncomfortable, but a lot of the times it’s better than flying off the handle.
Stay! Hydrated!
Be yourself. You’re the only one who can.
Don’t stop trying new things (especially new foods)
Find at least one thing every day to be happy about.
Stay happy, healthy, and safe everyone.
xoxo, Sarah
